The rape trial for Tyquin Capers Ricketts (27), of Ft. Wayne, Indiana was postponed due to the health issues facing his attorney Joseph Benavidez. The Trial was to begin on Wednesday, July 24th in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.
Capers Rickets is facing a first degree felony charge from March of 2018 for raping a 6 year old child. Capers Rickets is still in the Mercer County Detention Detention with a $500,000 (10%) bail set.
Judge Jeffrey Ingraham decided to cancel the pretrial hearing after learning that Benavidez had been admitted to a hospital in Lima and may not be able to represent Capers Rickets in the upcoming trial. Ingraham is hoping to find another lawyer in a timely manner.
