(July 10, 2019) The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Coldwater Police Department, will be hosting active school shooter training for deputies and other Mercer County Police Agencies on Thursday, July 11th and Friday, July 12th. The training will be held at the Coldwater High School, 310 N Second Street, Coldwater, OH 45828.

During the simulation training weapons will be used and want the public to be aware. There will be a visible law enforcement presence around the school as well as a large amount of police vehicles in the area. Signs will also be posted around the property warning the public to STAY CLEAR of the training.

This will be the 5th year for the Sheriff’s Office hosting an Active Shooter Training session in Mercer County.  The training has been moved throughout the county. In the past training has been at Marion Locals Schools, Ft. Recovery Schools, Parkway Local Schools and St. Henry Schools.

The simulation is to allow all of the officers from Mercer County to attend training in each of the School Districts so that they get an idea of the general lay outs of the buildings that they may be asked to respond to one day.The class will run from 8:00AM to 4:00PM each day.
