CELINA, OH – (4-8-19) Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reports that his office has completed an investigation in regards to an out-of-compliance sex offender living in Mercer County. Information was received late on April 3, 2019 in regards to Daniel L. Young (32) of Mendon, not living where he was registered. Young was convicted in 2011 of Gross Sexual Imposition and was labeled a Tier I Sex Offender. A Tier I Sex Offender must register with the Sheriff’s Office annually for 15 years.
On April 4, an investigation was initiated and it was found that Young was not in compliance and was not living at his registered address of 117 Dutton Street in Mendon. It was found that Mr. Young had been out of compliance for approximately a month. Young was located and taken into custody at another residence in Union Township and transported to the Mercer County Jail. He is currently being held on a probation violation through Mercer County Common Pleas Court, which stemmed from a 2017 conviction for Failure to Provide Change of Address. The case has been sent to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for filing of formal felony charges against Young.
