UPDATE: (3-26-19) The purpose of this post was to squash rumors of an attempted abduction. The girls stories were consistent and verified through video. The parents and law enforcement officials agree that they do not believe the individuals were attempting to lure the girls into a vehicle but were impaired, suspicious and highly inappropriate with the girls.

There is a Facebook post that is circulating on social media of a possible human trafficking attempt at McDonald’s and various other businesses in Wapakoneta.

The only incident that was reported to law enforcement involved several juveniles from Friday evening at McDonald’s. The parents reported the suspicious person/activity to our department on Saturday morning.

Officers interviewed the juvenile and also reviewed video from McDonald’s. The video shows the female and male in question and the female appears under the influence. The video also shows no interaction between the male and the juveniles leaving the restroom. After the juveniles leave the establishment, the suspects remain and order food at the counter. We are confident that this was NOT a human trafficking incident.

We appreciate the cooperation from the staff at McDonald’s.
