On February 13th, 2019 at about 3:08 AM a resident at 537 Touvelle St. heard a number of shots fired in the trailer court and called the Celina Police. Upon arrival officers found that the residential house trailer at lot number 69 had been shot five times. With no answer at the door, officers made entry. They found the resident, 41 year old Walter Mabry III. Mabry denied knowing what was going on and that he was asleep at the time.
Mabry offered no information as to who the suspect may be. Officers searched the area for a suspect and any evidence. They cleared the scene and contacted detectives to assist with further investigation.
On February 14th, 2019 shortly after 2:00 AM Celina Police were notified by St. Marys Police Department of a traffic stop they had made. Sgt. Tom Kennedy made observations during the stop coupled with details from Celina P.D. to develop probable cause for a search warrant. The warrant was issued by Judge R. Andrew Augsburger of the Auglaize County Municipal Court.
Celina Police along with St Marys Police executed the search warrant upon the residence at 802-1/2 Augusta St. in St. Marys. As a result of the search warrant a handgun was recovered with ammunition which was suspected to have been used in the shooting from the prior day.
A suspect, 22 year old Joseph Dylan Meinerding, was arrested and booked into the Mercer County Jail on Felonious Assault. He is being held on a $100,000 bond, subject to 10% pending the review and filing of formal charges by the Mercer County Prosecutor, Matthew K. Fox.
