(1-15-19) Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey announced today the arrest of Tyler Weitz after a traffic stop in Celina on January 14th. Mr. Weitz (32) Celina, was inside of vehicle that was stopped by Sheriff’s Deputies at the request of the Heroin Interdiction Team (HIT).
A Sheriff’s Office K9 performed a free air narcotic sniff, which resulted in the K9 alerting to the presence of drugs. Weitz was removed from the vehicle and frisked, which resulted in the recovery of a syringe as well as heroin. He was arrested and incarcerated in the Mercer County Detention Facility where he is presently being held on a $50,000.00 bond..
The HIT team is composed of Deputies from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office as well as Celina and Coldwater Police Departments.
