Nicholas R. Routt was arrested for preliminary charges of Illegal Possession of a Deer (Class B Misdemeanor) and Jacklighting (Class B Misdemeanor). Eric A. Flory was arrested for preliminary charges of Illegal Possession of a Deer (Class B Misdemeanor) and Jacklighting (Class B Misdemeanor).
(1-4-19) On December 30, 2018, two Mercer County, Ohio men were arrested after Adams County Sheriff Deputies and an Indiana Conservation Officer responded to a call of shots fired and possible spotlighting of wildlife in the area of Piqua Road near CR 650 E in rural Decatur, Adams County, Indiana. Upon further investigation, Adams County Deputies discovered that the shots fired were from subjects hunting illegally and killing a deer in violation to Indiana State laws.
Adams County Deputy Sheriff Mike Mendoza, Deputy Daniel Heckard and Indiana Conservation Officer Jacob Rutschilling responded to the area in an attempt to located the subject(s). Shortly after arriving Deputy Heckard located a parked vehicle in the vicinity. As Deputy Heckard made contact with two subjects in the vehicle, later identified as Nicholas R. Routt (Driver) and Eric A. Flory, he became suspicious of possible illegal activity connected to the initial call. Upon further investigation it was determined that the two subjects were involved in the illegal hunting and killing of a deer. Off duty Adams County K9 Deputy Sheriff Bryce Kukelhan was requested to respond to the area. Upon arrival, Deputy Kukelhan conducted a track in the area using his highly trained K9 partner, Cezar. K9 Cezar tracked and located the illegally killed deer.
