(11-1-18) Crown Equipment Corp. recently announced plans for an expansion in Western Ohio, which the company expects to create 563 full-time positions and $28.5 million in new payroll. The expansion will be spread throughout six Ohio cities — Troy, Minster, New Knoxville, Celina, Fort Loramie, and New Bremen, where the company is headquartered.
Although specific levels of investment and square footage have not been specified, the proposed project will focus on manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution capabilities. Significant levels of investment will be dedicated toward the construction of a new building and the purchase of additional machinery and equipment.
An announcement from the Ohio Tax Credit Authority played a critical role in putting the project in motion; the credit authority approved a 2% 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit, worth a reported $5.1 million. This additional tax relief was seen as the pivotal element in winning the bid for Ohio over neighboring Indiana.
Crown Equipment Corp. designs, manufactures, distributes, services, and supports forklift trucks and other material handling equipment. The fourth-largest manufacturer of powered industrial forklift trucks in the world, the company has 19 manufacturing facilities and more than 500 retail locations across 84 countries.
