10-26-18 – According to the Daily Advocate, a three alarm fire was reported early Thursday night at around 915pm on reports of a fire at the Darke County Fairgrounds at the Swine Barn.

The fire lso caused damage to several nearby buildings. The Swine Barn at this time of year is used as a storage facility.. No complete list of items in storage at the time have been released, although fair officials did confirm that antique tractors, travel trailers, a sail boat and a some vehicles were known to be inside.

It is the second major fire to take place at fair, in 2013 a million dollars in damages took place at the Cow Palace, also located on the fairgrounds when it was burnt to the ground.

The fire will remain under investigation by the Greenville City Fire Department. Other units that were a part of first responders to the scene included the Greenville Township Rescue,  officers from the Greenville City Police Department, plus Piqua and Burkettsville fire departments.
