Jane dippold

(10-2-18) The Mercer County District Library will host local artist and children’s illustrator Jane Dippold from Coldwater on Thursday, October 11 at 6:00 pm.  She will be discussing her work and showing an example of her illustrations. Two of the books she illustrated will be available that evening, “Farmer Market Day” by Shanda Trent and “Traveling Babies” by Kathryn Galbraith.

Born in Ohio, Jane graduated from Miami University with a degree in Fine Arts. As a kid her dream job was to create art for the stories in Cricket Magazine which she had borrowed from a neighbor. 20 years, later, her first freelance job as a children’s illustrator was creating a puzzle page for Spider Magazine, a partner magazine to Cricket.

Jane uses watercolor, collage, acrylic, colored pencil, and digital tools like Photoshop and an iPad Pro to complete her illustrations. She loves to draw little people enjoying the world, especially babies, create adorable animal characters, doodle out silly lettering, and come up with ideas for new puzzles and games for children’s magazines.

She has illustrated over 25 books for children for publishers such as Tiger Tales, Harper Collins, Readers Digest and Zondervan. Her artwork also appears in magazines for children like Highlights, HighFive, and Ladybug. Her puzzle designs and artwork are featured regularly in Spider Magazine, geared towards the 6-9 year olds. You can see her artwork at her    website:  www.janedippold.com.
