(9-2-18) The Celina Dire Department was dispatched at 6:41 pm last night (September 1st) to 519 South Elm Street for a garage fire.  The occupants of the home, Carolyn Maier and Gary Billger, were both home at the time of the fire.  The garage had heavy fire damage and the interior of the home suffered heavy smoke damage.  The neighbor’s home at 515 South Elm also had heat damage to their home due to the fire.  The home owner’s cat perished in the fire, but there were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

The CFD responded with 2 fire apparatus and an ambulance and remained on scene until 11pm.  The cause of the fire is not considered suspicious but is still under investigation.
