Matthew Wall

(8-24-18) A Hardin County man, Matthew Wall (39) of Kenton, took his own life Thursday after fleeing a Hardin County Sheriff’s  deputy attempted to serve him a an outstanding bench warrant for failure to appear in court from Putnam County at 4:26 p.m. Thursday at County Road 130 and Jones Road.

Wall refused to stop when a brief pursuit ensued,  the deputy ended the pursuit (due to safety concerns) but continued to follow Wall to his residence at 13051 Township Road 95. That is when Wall decided to barricade himself in the garage. The deputy at the same time was calling for backup.

When deputies attempted to enter the garage after negotiations failed, Wall shot himself .

The failure to appear warrant that was to be served to Wall was for a charge of driving under suspension, according to both Hardin and Putnam County officials.

The investigation continues with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification to investigate the scene. .
