Robert K. Seibert

(7-28-18) Van Wert County Sheriff Thomas M. Riggenbach announced that an inmate, Robert K. Seibert (31) of Van Wert, who is presently at the Van Wert County Correctional Facility is facing a charge of Escape.

On Friday (July 27th) at 5:26pm, Seibert fled on foot from the Correctional Facility. Seibert was part of a work crew that was taking trash out  to a dumpster. The work crew was being escorted by an employee. As the work crew was being escorted back into facility, Seibert took of on foot.

The employee immediately notified  the staff about Seibert fleeing. The other inmate on the work crew was secured inside the Correctional Facility. Multiple employees pursued Seibert. A citizen who witnessed what was happening assisted the Correction Officers and provided information on the direction of travel Seibert took. The Cofficers chased Seibert for 2-3 blocks before capturing Seibert in the 100 block of East First St. Seibert was back in custody at around 5:34pm.

Seibert is presently serving a sentence for a Domestic Violence charge and was scheduled to be released on 01/26/2019

The Van Wert Police Department assisted in searching for Seibert and transported Seibert back to the Correctional Facility.
