WAYNESFIELD – (7-13-18) William H. Lawrence, 44, of 26702 Buckland Holden Road, Waynesfield, led Waynesfield Police Department officers on a brief chase Thursday afternoon  that ended at his residence.

At approximately 6:13 p.m., officers attempted to stop Lawrence for driving under suspension and for having an expired registration. Lawrence was on East Wapakoneta Street in the Village of Waynesfield when an officer spotted him driving eastbound. The officer attempted to stop Lawrence at State Route 67 and Moyer Road, just east of the village. Lawrence refused to stop and continued northbound past Fairmount Road at speeds of 45-50 mph. Lawrence proceeded to drive to his residence. Lawrence was then placed under arrest without further incident.

Lawrence was arrested and charged with failing to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, two counts of driving under suspension, having a fictitious registration sticker and driving on an expired registration. He was transported and booked into the Auglaize County Jail and his vehicle was towed from the scene. Additional charges against Lawrence are possible as the investigation continues.

The Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office and Auglaize-Mercer Grand Lake Drug Task Force assisted at the scene.
