Pennsylvania State Police press release:

The bus was traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 when the bus was driven off the south side of the highway, sheered off a light post and drove down a 40-foot embankment.

Minor injuries were reported by six of the 31 passengers. All were transported to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania, for medical clearance and treatment.

The bus driver, Gordon R. Ooten of Defiance will be cited for failure to drive within a single lane.

The crash occurred at 5:45 a.m. in Liberty Township, Montour County.

According to Delphos City Schools, the bus company, which did not have a replacement bus available, was sending a van and a trailer to pick up students and luggage, while several groups of parents were also headed to Pennsylvania.

(5-21-18) Bloomberg, Pennsylvania – A charter bus carrying over thirty Delphos Jefferson High School students and chaperones to New York City crashed in central Pennsylvania near Bloomberg at approximately 5 am this morning.

Delphos City Schools Superintendent Kevin Wolf told the Delphos Herald:

“Everyone on the bus was transported to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania, with only minor injuries reported. Everyone was transported so the group could stay together. I have contacted the charter company to have another bus sent to retrieve the group.”
