
(5-9-18) Two Auglaize County residents will try and win the 84th State House Seat in November after last night’s competitive Republican primary. The 84th House District includes portions of Mercer, Darke, Auglaize and Shelby Counties.
Susan Manchester of Waynesfield picked up the win in the the three-candidate Republican Primary for the 84th State House Seat. Manchester defeated Republicans Travis Faber of Celina and Aaron Heilers of Anna. Manchester was endorsed by US Representative Jim Jordan, who could become the next Speaker of the House.
The final vote totals were:
- 5,398 votes for Susan Manchester
- 4,713 votes for Travis Faber
- 4,608 votes for Aaron Heilers
Despite winning two of the four county votes in the District, Heilers would finish third, while Faber had a convincing win in Darke County.
In Mercer County it was a very close race, with Heilers winning the vote over Manchester by just 35 votes 1,665 to 1,630.
In Auglaize County Manchester easily won her home county by 800 votes over Faber 1,854-987.
In Darke County, it was Faber outdistancing Manchester 1,719-1,308.
In Shelby County, Heilers easily picked up the win over Manchester 1,481-606.

In the November general election, Manchester will face Democrat Joseph Monbeck of Wapakoneta who ran unopposed in the Democratic Primary.
