(5-6-18) Yesterday a body was recovered from the water of the Miami River, the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office along with local law enforcement authorities have identified the body as Steve N Helton (47) of Sidney.
A man fishing at the river saw what he believed to be a body that was a mostly submerged body close to the shore. The Sidney Fire Department used their boat to recover the Helton’s body
Preliminary report from the Coroner’s Office indicates that the likely cause of death is due to drowning. No signs of injury were discovered on the body.
The investigation is still ongoing as to the circumstance of how and why Mr. Helton came to be in the river that led to his drowning. All citizens are asked that if they have any information about this to contact the Sidney Police Department at 937-498-2351 or Crime Stoppers at 937-492-8477 (TIPS).
