(4-30-18) Van Wert County Sheriff Thomas M. Riggenbach says his Office is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred on Sunday April 29, 2018. Sheriff Riggenbach stated the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 7:26pm of a possible two vehicle collision on State Route 81 between Willshire Eastern Rd. and Harrison Willshire Rd. Upon deputy’s arrival it was learned this was a one vehicle crash.

A 2012 Lincoln MKZ, driven by Tim Dellinger, age 56 of Willshire, was involved in the crash. The crash appeared to have happened after the vehicle went off the right side of the road, came back onto the road and over corrected, causing the vehicle to leave the road way into a ditch and coming to rest in a field, based on evidence at the scene. The vehicle sustained heavy damage.

A passenger in the Lincoln, Christina Dellinger, age 54 of Willshire, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Mrs. Dellinger was transported to the Van Wert County Hospital by Van Wert EMS. The driver of the Lincoln, was taken to Lutheran Hospital by Lutheran Air.

Both the drivers and passenger are not believed to have been wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. Sheriff Riggenbach said the investigation of the crash is continuing.
