A three vehicle crash that occurred on Interstate 75 south of Botkins in Shelby County just before 2:00 p.m. today claimed the life of Stacie M. Jones (44) from Roseville, Michigan.
The crash involved a red 2007 Ford that was originally traveling southbound on Interstate 75. The driver was Clayton Reed, (44) also from Roseville, he lost control, went across the grassy median, and struck a commercial vehicle that was going northbound.
Jones was a front seat passenger in Reed’s vehicle and was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene. Reed, was transported by the Anna EMS to Lima Memorial with non-life threatening injuries.
The commercial vehicle, a 2012 Mack truck hauling a box trailer, was driven by Travis P. Light (26) from Cincinnati and he was was not injured.
A third vehicle, also a commercial vehicle, was included in the crash investigation when it struck the debris field attempting to avoid the other two vehicles.
Emergency crews from Anna and Botkins EMS and fire departments were on scene along with representatives from the Ohio Department of Transportation. Northbound lanes were closed for approximately two hours to allow for personnel to process the scene and clean up the large debris field.
The crash remains under investigation under the supervision of troopers from the Piqua Ohio Highway Patrol Post.
