Jennifer Glance of Coldwater,  has her oil and cold wax on canvas, ‘Fog over Field’ featured and on display at the exhibit.

Born in Parma, Ohio, Glance currently resides in Coldwater. She earned a doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Michigan State University. A lifelong artist, she applies her knowledge of anatomy to portray the human figure.

Her current work is focused on the Ohio landscape in oil mixed media. She is drawn to water and the landscape as her subjects, as they are in constant flux, yet remain resilient with time.

Presented by the Ohio Arts Council, Columbus Metropolitan Library, and Friends of the Library, the exhibition showcases Ohio artists registered in OOVAR, a database of work of more than 1,900 artists from Ohio and all over the world.

The artists on display were chosen from a pool of 95 applicants, with almost 285 works being considered.

A Juror’s Choice Award of $1,000 (sponsored by the Ohio Arts Council) and a People’s Choice Award of $500 (sponsored by the Friends of the Library and selected based on ballots cast by patrons of the gallery and library) will be presented at a closing reception on January 6th.

This year, the show’s three jurors are:

  • Charles Kanwischer, Director of the Bowling Green State University School of Art
  • Laura Anthony, Friends of the Library
  • Kelly Stevelt, Columbus Metropolitan Library

“The work will show visitors the wonderful breadth and quality of Ohio artists. It’s a great opportunity for the artists to connect with a non-specialist audience in a prestigious venue.”

“As I made my selections, I kept constantly in mind the idea of including works that will bring enjoyment and pleasure to patrons, while at the same time providing opportunities for reflection.”
