The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cleared Omni Manufacturing (St Marys) after a 6 month investigation, stating that the company was not at fault when 55 year old Jon Paul Jones of Celina died in an industrial accident that took place on January 24th.
The above summary from OHSA states that Jones was walking down the aisle when he was hit in the head with a piece of metal that had been ejected from an exploding 150 horsepower D-C electric Baldor motor, which was a few hundred feet away at the time of the incident. The motor was being troubleshot by a contractor and it over revved to the point where the motor shiv exploded and the electric motor violently came apart. Jones suffered a severe skull fracture on January 24th. He passed away on January 26th.
