More than 100 superheroes participated in the 1st annual Mercer County Prevention Coalition Superhero 5K at the Mercer County Fairgrounds in Celina on Saturday, October 28th, 2017. Despite the freezing cold weather it was a HUGE success!
This organized event will help to fulfill their mission which is:
To improve the quality of lives of Mercer County residents by preventing the harmful consequences of substance use, abuse, and suicide among youth, families, and the larger community.
The Mercer County Prevention Coalition was formed in August 2015 and we most recently have been very active in the back-to-school nights, promoting the Let’s Talk campaign, Red Ribbon 4th grade grocery bag coloring contest and designed, printed and distributed educational placemats to the local restaurants.
100% of the funds raised from the 5K will stay in Mercer County and will be used for education, awareness, and prevention materials. Our goal is to be able to reach the youth, and their families to teach them the importance of prevention.
