Zachary De Vega of Portland (322 S. Middle Street) has been charged by Portland Police with attempted murder after the stabbing of a Christopher A. Loden (1210 S. Miller Ave., Portland) yesterday.
The stabbing victim is presently in ‘critical’ but stable condition at Lutheran Hospital where he was transported by helicopter after the incident.

Around 830pm (8-14-17) Portland Police have the suspect from today’s stabbing, Zachary De Vega, in custody. He was located at a residence in Portland.
(8-14-17) This afternoon a stabbing (just before 5pm) took place at 1108 West Main Street in Portland, Indiana. Police are currently looking for a suspect named Zach De Vega.
Portland police say that De Vega fled the scene in a Red Stratus or Sebring with front headlight damage. Should you see DeVega or a car that fits the description should call Portland Police 260-726-7161
The victim was stabbed in the back and taken by ambulance to the Jay County Hospital, before he was care-flighted by helicopter to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
