On August 6, 2017 at approximately 7:49 AM the Darke County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call in reference to a serious industrial farming accident in northern Darke County. The Darke County Communications Center immediately dispatched Ansonia Rescue, Rossburg Fire, CareFlight and Darke County Deputies to 13291 Cochran Road Rossburg. 

Preliminary investigation revealed Matt S. Rogers (35) of Portland, Indiana is a employee of Howe’s Hens Layer Farm was conducting his daily duties when his arm was caught in a conveyer belt. Mr. Rogers was treated by Ansonia Rescue at the scene and transported to Miami Valley Hostipal by CareFlight. Mr. Roger’s condition is unknown at this time. 

(8-6-17) – The Darke County Sheriff’s Department is presently on site of a farm related incident that happened this morning outside of Rossburg (Cochran Road) in Darke County. According to reports an individual had his arm caught in a manure spreader. CareFlight from Dayton is responding to the location, concerns are that major surgery will be required to save the arm in question.  Once the individual is picked up they will be sent to Miami Valley Hospital.

The Darke County Sheriff’s office is not releasing details of the incident at this time.
