(7-12-17) Celina Police, today, arrested 35 year old James E. Pinson of 920 N. Brandon Av., Celina in connection with the death of 54 year old Ronald G. Gray Jr.
On March 19th, 2017 Celina Police officers responded to a call of an unresponsive man in a minivan at 221 Summit St., Celina. Upon arrival officers found Ronald G. Gray Jr. deceased in the vehicle. A preliminary investigation indicated a possible drug overdose.
Detectives took over the investigation. An autopsy was requested by Mercer County Coroner Dr. Timothy Heinrichs and it was performed by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. A death certificate was issued June 3rd confirming death by drug overdose due to carfentanyl intoxication. Carfentanyl has been commonly added to heroin and other drugs of abuse of late and is referred by the street name of “Grey Death”.
The investigation continues. James E. Pinson is currently charged with Involuntary Manslaughter, a felony of the 1st degree, Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs, a felony of the 4th degree, and Trafficking in Cocaine, a felony of the 4th degree, as a result of supplying Ronald Gray with drugs that caused his death. Pinson is being held in the Mercer Co. Jail on $500,000 subject to 10% bond per Judge James Scheer. The case is being referred to the Mercer County Prosecutor Matthew Fox for further review and prosecution.
