“Celina Aluminum Precision Technology’s latest investment is an example of how Ohio’s automotive supply chain is nimble and adapts to evolving market conditions. Nearly three decades ago, CAPT was established in Mercer County, where it now employs 400 Ohio workers learning new skills to provide critical components needed for Honda’s EV production.”

–Julie Sullivan, Executive Vice President, Regional Development, Dayton Development Coalition

“Celina Aluminum Precision Technology Inc.’s investment in its Celina facility shows how Ohio companies will power the transition to electric vehicles. CAPT’s nearly three decades of automotive manufacturing expertise and its commitment to innovation will help keep the Dayton Region positioned for a leading role in the transformation of the automotive industry.”

— Jared Ebbing Community/Economic Development Director, Mercer County

“Mercer County is excited to see CAPT make such a large investment of new equipment and technology at their facility here in Mercer County. CAPT has been a pillar in our community for 30 years and we are grateful for their contribution to our local economy.  They have firmly established themselves as a leading employer in the region by providing a great work environment for the many fantastic career opportunities that exist in their operations.  This new investment only reaffirms this fact and we look forward to our continued collaboration for years to come as a result.”

CAPT, which was established 29 years ago in the summer of 1994, will begin the transition from internal combustion engine (ICE) parts to BEV parts. The new equipment installation falls in line with striving to become carbon neutral with minimal impact to the environment.

Installation of the equipment will begin in the fourth quarter of 2024. CAPT will need to install three new casting machines using a Japan patented technology called Honda Foundry Electromagnetic Die Casting (HFEMDC®). In addition, CAPT will install two new machining lines and assembly lines.

CAPT has worked out the details of an incentive package with JobsOhio earlier this year. JobsOhio will provide a training grant for the training required to learn the new processes on the new equipment. The JobsOhio training grant permits reimbursement of training costs up to $400,000. CAPT appreciates that training support from the State of Ohio.

Tom Rable, Senior Vice President stated –

“CAPT is proud that we can start this business transition and remain a business partner in Mercer County. We have a talented team of associates that will enable this new business to launch successfully. This will allow CAPT to continue to have a positive impact on the community.”

CAPT is extremely pleased to be part of this new electric vehicle transition.
