(4-27-24) Shanes Crossing Historical Society is pleased to promote Hunt the Straight Path Home, a book written by  Rebekah Binkley Montgomery.   This is her 9th book and first novel.   The setting takes place in Rockford, Ohio.

A little history on Rebekah —  In 1956, her parents Carl and Catherine Binkley moved to the Mt. Tabor church parsonage on Fast Road near Rockford for the better part of her childhood.  She started school with the Parkway class of 1970 but in 1965, She moved with her family to start a church in Freeport, Illinois.

When Rebekah’s children came along, her and husband John wanted them to have a “Rockford childhood.” So they purchased and refurbished what is known locally as the Eli Keopple place on Stringtown Road or State Route 707.   Much of the book Hunt the Straight Path Home takes place there or in places that actually stood in Rockford in the 1917-1919s.

Rebekah will be signing books at Rockford Spring Fling May 4th.  One dollar from every book sold will be donated to  Shanes Crossing Historical Society for the restoration of the Anthony Shane Log cabin.

Her husband, John Montgomery,  will be selling wheel-thrown earthenware mugs with Rockford insignias on them—also in support of Shane’s cabin restoration.  His mugs and steins are oven-safe up to 2000 degrees, dishwasher and microwave safe.
