FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Greenville, Ohio (3-26-26) — In celebration of National Poetry Month, the Greenville Public Library invites community members to tap into their creativity at a Blackout Poetry Workshop on Saturday, April 18 at 11:00 a.m.

Blackout poetry is a unique and accessible art form that transforms existing text—such as pages from books, newspapers, or magazines—into original poetry. By blacking out selected words, participants reveal new and often powerful messages, combining elements of visual art and creative writing.

This interactive workshop will provide all materials needed, along with guidance for beginners and experienced creatives alike. No prior writing or artistic experience is necessary.

Nikki Levek, Programming Specialist at Greenville Public Library

“Blackout poetry is such a fun and freeing way to explore creativity. It allows participants to see words in a whole new way and create something uniquely their own.”

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, as space may be limited.
