VAN WERT, Ohio (3-24-26) — Sounds of Liberty: A Musical Celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert.

The community is invited to celebrate the 250th anniversary of America’s founding with an engaging program of music from the Revolutionary War era. First Presbyterian Church of Van Wert music director Gregory Pysh will lead attendees in several well-known hymn selections and early patriotic songs.

In addition to the musical selections, the program will feature a special guest appearance by Revolutionary War hero Isaac Van Wart, portrayed by Tom Mosier of Celina. Isaac Van Wart is the namesake of Van Wert County and the city of Van Wert. Mosier presents a dramatic recollection of how Van Wart, John Paulding and David Williams, in 1780, foiled a plot by Continental Army Gen. Benedict Arnold by capturing British spy Maj. John André.

The Isaac Van Wart Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will display Van Wert’s 3D-printed copy of the bronze Isaac Van Wart bust. The original bronze bust is in the collection of the Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown, New York. A replica of the Betsy Ross flag and an informational DAR table will also be on display. Attendees are welcome to dress in colonial attire.

Refreshments will be served following this free event.

First Presbyterian Church is located at the corner of South Washington and Crawford streets, Van Wert, OH 45891.
