(3-12-26) The Decatur (Ind) Police Department is aware of an incident involving one of our officers who parked their marked police car in designated handicap parking spaces at Bellmont High School.

This conduct does not meet the standards we expect of our personnel or the trust our community places in us. The officer has been appropriately disciplined and was issued a citation for this offense.

We take accountability seriously and remain committed to holding ourselves to the same laws and expectations we enforce.

As the Chief of Police, I apologize to our community on behalf of our entire department and reaffirm our commitment to doing better and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and respect.
