Archbold, Ohio (2-23-26) – The Northwest State Community College Board of Trustees met in regular session on Friday, February 20th at the Archbold campus. As part of the meeting’s agenda, the Board elected its new Chair, Vice Chair and Second Vice Chair for the period of February 2026 to February 2027.Mickey Schwarzbek (Defiance County) was elected Chair, Joel Miller (Henry County) was elected Vice Chair, and John Poulson (Henry County) was elected as Second Vice Chair by the Board. NSCC President Dr. Todd Hernandez offered remarks of gratitude for Katrina DeGroff, who served as Chair for the 2025-2026 period, for her valued dedication and service to the College.

ADDITIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
Prior to electing its new officers for 2026-2027, the Board reviewed and approved the 2025-2026 revised budget. The revised budget is $47,844,876, which is a net adjustment of ($553,698). Sandra Barber and John Poulson were appointed as Delegate and Alternate from the Board to serve on the governing board of the Ohio Association of Community Colleges (OACC) for the period of February 2026 through February 2027. Finally, the Board confirmed the following upcoming meeting dates: Friday, April 17, Thursday, June 25, Friday, August 28, Friday, October 16, Friday, December 11, and Friday, February 19 (2027).

- Approved the employment of Dhafir Almansoori (Faculty-Engineering Technology [Mechanical]), Peter Runk (Faculty-Industrial Technology [Welding]), Britany Waidelich (Administrative Assistant-Industrial Technologies & Black Swamp Safety Council), Sidney Faine (Success Coach [TRIO]), Tiffany Rodriguez (p/t Wildfire Sales Coordinator), and Jason “Jay” Baun (Working Supervisor-Facility Maintenance).
- Approved the promotion of Terry King to Executive Director of Enterprise Solutions and IR, and Jamie Zeller to Director of Data Systems.
- Approved the following program inactivations: Network Administration-Associate of Applied Business (term effective-summer 2021), Cybersecurity-Associate of Applied Business (term effective-summer 2021), and Paralegal-Associate of Applied Business (term effective-fall 2021).
- Approved curriculum changes for multiple courses, which is part of ongoing curriculum development, pursuant to House Bill 96.
- Approved the fulfillment of a performance audit by the Auditor of State.
- Approved the 2024-2025 College (financial) audit.
- Approved miscellaneous employment contracts.
- Approved one resignation, and one retirement.
