(2-22-26) The Ohio Elks State Hoop Shoot competition was held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Liberty Middle School in Newark, Ohio.

Mercer County has another State Champion… Calvin Homan won the Ohio Elks State Hoop Shoot competition today held in Newark.

Calvin made 23/25 to win the championship in the Boys 8-9 year old division. He advances to shoot in th Regional round in South Bend, IN. and will compete at the Great Lakes Region 4 Hoop Shoot Competition on Saturday, March 14, 2026  along with the winners from Indiana and Michigan.

8-9 Girls

Meredith Mizla – Port Clinton Elks Lodge #1718 shot 2 of 25 to place 6th

 

10-11 Girls

Lucy Kuhn – Findlay Elks Lodge #75 shot 13 of 25 to place 4th

 

12-13 Girls

Stella Sheeley – Mercer Co Elks Lodge #2170 shot 21 of 25 and 2 of 5 in a tie-breaker to place 4th

 

8-9 Boys

Calvin Homan – Mercer Co Elks Lodge #2170 shot 23 of 25 for place 1st

 

10-11 Boys

Brody Howe – Lima Elks Lodge #54 shot 21 of 25 and 3 of 5 in a tie-breaker to place 3rd

 

12-13 Boys

Blake Garrison – Mercer Co Elks Lodge #2170 shot 21 of 25 to place 3rd

 

The Elks Hoop Shoot is the national free throw shooting contest for boys and girls age 8 through 13. Each contestant has 25 shots at the hoop. The boy and girl in each age group (8-9; 10-11; and 12-13) with the best score advance through four tiers of competition to qualify for the national finals.
