PALM BEACH, Fla. (2-22-26) ) — U.S. Secret Service agents and a Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a man early Sunday after he unlawfully entered the secure perimeter of President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. ET on Sunday morning when the man, described as a white male in his early 20s, drove through the north gate as another vehicle was exiting. He was carrying what appeared to be a shotgun and a fuel can, according to a Secret Service statement.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said at a news conference that officials confronted him and ordered him to drop the items. The man set down the fuel can but raised the shotgun to a shooting position, prompting the agents and deputy to open fire.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man has been identified as Austin Tucker Martin, (21) of Cameron, North Carolina, based on his driver’s license, Bradshaw said. A box for the shotgun was found in his vehicle.

Martin’s family shared a flyer on Facebook at 7 a.m. on Feb. 22, six hours after the shooting at Mar-a-Lago. The flyer contained his name and photo, along with a plea for information about his whereabouts.

Investigators are working to determine a motive, and a psychological profile is being compiled.

President Trump was not at the estate during the incident; he was at the White House, the Secret Service confirmed. The president has not commented publicly on the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing, with federal and local agencies involved. No further threats have been reported.
