Robert McGough

(2-20-26) A Coldwater Police Detective with specialized training in the investigations of Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) obtained knowledge of potential crimes being committed in Fort Recovery, Ohio. Contact was made with Fort Recovery Police by Coldwater Police of this, and a request was made for that detective to continue the investigation and keep Fort Recovery Police informed of the progress.

After a lengthy investigation, two search warrants were issued to the Grand Lake Task Force and its Officers. On Friday, February 20, 2026, those search warrants were executed in the 400 block of East Broadway Street in Fort Recovery, Ohio. Cooperation before and on the scene at the two search warrant locations by Fort Recovery Police, Coldwater Police, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, the Grand Lake Task Force, and the Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force was crucial to the success of these operations.

Local, County, State, and Federal Law Enforcement agencies will continue working together in Mercer County to do everything we can to hold those who prey on our most vulnerable accountable for their actions.

Arrested and brought to the Mercer County Jail was 53-year-old Robert McGough for the charge of felony level possession of drugs. This is an ongoing investigation that will be forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for further review. No further information will be released at this time.
