VAN WERT, Ohio (1-12-26) — Maumee Valley Network has announced Jeff Blackmore of Van Wert as the January recipient of its Flag of Honor Giveaway, a year-long initiative celebrating community service as part of America’s upcoming 250th anniversary.

The program is sponsored by Lee Kinstle GM Sales & Service and is held in partnership with Collins Flag of Marion, Indiana.
Blackmore was nominated by Van Wert resident Stacy Widmer, who cited his decades of service and continued volunteerism. According to Widmer’s nomination, Blackmore devoted 20 years to the United States Military and 29 years to the Van Wert Police Department, followed by years of ongoing community involvement.
In addition to his professional service, Blackmore has volunteered as a flag football coach, served as a WatchDOG volunteer for Eastern Christian Children (ECC), and for the past four years has donated his time, photography, media support, and meals to the Van Wert High School bowling team. He also volunteers weekly through his church.
“Jeff Blackmore represents the very spirit of this program,” said Maumee Valley Network. “His service didn’t end with retirement — it continues every day through the people and organizations he supports.”
Blackmore received his American flag at Lee Kinstle GM Sales & Service in Van Wert from Eric McCracken and was recognized as the first monthly recipient of the Flag of Honor program.
The Flag of Honor Giveaway will continue through the end of the year, with one American flag awarded each month to a deserving community member. Eligible nominees include veterans, first responders, teachers, school staff, farmers, volunteers, and everyday heroes who demonstrate pride in their community and country.
Nominations are open to residents of Adams (IN), Allen (IN), Allen (OH), Auglaize, Defiance, Henry, Mercer, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert, and Williams counties. Each monthly recipient will be featured by Maumee Valley Network and will receive their flag locally at Lee Kinstle GM Sales & Service.
