(2-7-26) A voluntary recall has been issued for thousands of repackaged M&M’s sold in 20 states, including Ohio and Kentucky, due to a labeling error that omitted allergen warnings, federal officials said.
The products may contain undeclared milk, soy and peanuts, posing a risk to health consumers with allergies.
Consumers with allergies to milk, soy or peanuts are advised not to consume the recalled products and to discard them to avoid potential allergic reactions.
Beacon Promotions Inc. announced the recall Jan. 26, affecting nearly 6,000 promotional packs of 1.3-ounce Peanut M&M’s and original M&M’s. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration classified the recall as Class II on Feb. 4, meaning consumption could cause temporary or medically reversible health effects.
The recalled Peanut M&M’s feature “Make Your Mark” labels, lot code M1823200 and a best-by date of April 30, 2026. The original M&M’s included in the recall have the following lot codes and best-by dates:
- L450ARCLV03, best by Dec. 1, 2025
- L502FLHKP01, best by Jan. 1, 2026
- L523CMHKP01, best by June 30, 2026
- L537GMHKP01, best by Sept. 1, 2026
The products were distributed in Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.
