(2-5-26) Lima Police Det. Steve Stechschulte and officers were called at 3:40 p.m. Thursday to Maplewood Apartments, 531 Brower Road after a fetus was found in a Dumpster.

After locating the fetus, detectives were called in to begin an investigation. The fetus was transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for examination to determine the gestational age.

Soon after the investigation began, the female who carried the fetus was located. The female, whose name has not been released, was transported to the Lima Police Department.

According to Allen County Jail site-

A fetus is the stage of human development after the embryonic stage.

In humans, it starts at about 9 weeks of pregnancy and lasts until birth.

During this time, the major organs are already formed, and the fetus mainly grows and matures—bones harden, features become clearer, and systems like the lungs and brain continue developing.

Before this stage (weeks 1–8), the developing human is called an embryo.

No additional information will be released at this time, Stechschulte said in the release.

Anyone with additional information about this incident is asked to call the Lima Police Department at 419-227-4444.
