The driver, identified as 37-year-old Geoffrey Swink of Celina, displayed multiple indicators of alcohol impairment. He consented to standardized field sobriety tests and did not perform them satisfactorily. Swink was placed under arrest for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI). The charge constitutes a felony due to four prior OVI convictions within the past ten years. He was convicted on 2022 in Celina, in 2019 in Lima and in 2018 in Franklin Co. While being booked into the Mercer County Adult Detention Center, Swink stated that his two-year-old child had been left home alone and requested to make a phone call. He refused to provide his current address. Officers conducted follow-up investigation and were able to determine his residence.

At approximately 12:00 a.m., Celina Police officers made forced entry into the residence at 1125 West Bank Road, Celina. A two-year-old child was located inside the home alone and crying. Mercer County Job and Family Services was notified.

Swink is currently being held at the Mercer County Adult Detention Center on charges of OVI, a felony of the fifth degree, and Failure to Disclose Personal Information, a felony of the fourth degree.
