(2-1-26) On January 30, 2026, at approximately 4:17 p.m., Allen County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 5000 block of Piquad Road in response to a reported domestic violence incident involving a firearm. Two victims were able to flee the residence prior to deputies’ arrival, while the suspect was believed to remain inside the home.

Upon arrival, deputies established a perimeter and made multiple PA announcements requesting the suspect, identified as Cody Hunter, to exit the residence. Mr. Hunter did not follow these commands.

At approximately 7:57 p.m., the Allen County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team responded to the scene with a search warrant. Additional PA announcements were made directing Hunter to exit the residence.

Based on the nature of the call and information available at the time indicating the suspect having access to firearms, SWAT entered the residence. Hunter was  located in the attic and taken into custody without further incident.

A subsequent search of the attic revealed that Hunter had four pistols at the time of his arrest.

Hunter was transported to the Allen County Jail and booked on charges of domestic violence and weapons under disability. He is also being held on an outstanding warrant from Putnam County.

This investigation remains ongoing.
