(1-30-26) The Darke County Sheriff’s Department reports deputies, Ansonia Rescue, the Versailles Fire Department and CareFlight were dispatched to the area of Brown Road and Shaffer Road at approximately 11:33 p.m. on January 29, 2026, for a snowmobile crash with injury.

Investigators say a 2003 Ski Doo MXZ snowmobile was traveling south through a field when it struck an embankment, went airborne, and then struck a guardrail on Brown Road. The rider was identified as Xavier Miller (20) of Versailles who was ejected and landed in the roadway.

First responders provided medical aid at the scene before Miller was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight. Authorities say he later died from his injuries at the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Department.
