FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
January 30, 2026
(COLUMBUS) – Representative Angie King (R-Celina) has introduced a bill to modernize Ohio’s licensing and supervision requirements for general X-ray machine operators (GXMO’s).
King said-
“This is legislation is about modernizing regulations in a way that supports both patients and healthcare professionals. It allows flexibility where appropriate while keeping patient safety at the forefront.”
The proposal is designed to help healthcare providers, particularly in rural and underserved communities, address workforce challenges without requiring changes to existing staffing models or expanding scopes of practice. The legislation reinforces physician-led, team-based care and maintains clear supervision requirements, ensuring high standards of care remain in place.
By reducing delays in routine diagnostic imaging, the legislation would help providers deliver timely care while keeping essential services accessible within local communities. If enacted, the measure offers a cost-effective approach to strengthening access to care, especially in regions where ongoing staffing shortages create challenges for both patients and healthcare professionals.
This bill awaits a number and committee assignment.
