PRESS RELEASE
(1-20-26) Mercer County Engineer Jim Wiechart announced recently the completion of a multiple year county maintenance ditch improvement project. Rock channel protection was placed on Beaver Creek slopes. This multiple year project began in 2012 and was completed in 2025.

The project involved the placement of 89,386.97 tons of rip rap.
“The completion of this project is beneficial for several reasons. It shores up and protects the slopes on the Beaver Creek Ditch and reduces potential erosion problems. Further, the completion of this work will significantly lessen the future maintenance ditch costs to the landowners in the Beaver Creek Watershed.”
The work was completed by both Mercer County Engineer forces as well as multiple contracts over the above-referenced span of years.
