What “Fugitive from Justice” Means in Ohio
In Ohio law (and commonly in the U.S.), a fugitive from justice is someone who:
Is suspected of or has been convicted of a crime; Is sought by the jurisdiction so it can subject the person to its criminal justice system; and Has left that jurisdiction and is found in another (e.g., another state) to avoid prosecution or confinement.
In practice, this often applies when someone leaves Ohio to evade arrest, extradition, or sentencing.
