Hicksville School Altercation, 13 Year Old Taken Into Custody

(1-12-26) The Hicksville Police Department says a 13-year-old was taken into custody Monday morning after another student was hospitalized following an altercation.

Police say they got a call around 11:27 a.m. from someone at Hicksville Exempted Village Schools who reported that a student was unconscious and bleeding from the nose. They said the student was hurt during an altercation, but no further details about the incident were shared.

Before officers and paramedics who were sent to the school arrived, the department says the student was reported to be conscious again. They were then taken to an area hospital for treatment.

A 13-year-old student was then taken to the Northwest Ohio Juvenile Detention Center, Hicksville Chief Mark Denning says. He says a case file will be turned over to the Defiance County Prosecutors Office for review.

Denning says the incident was isolated and there was no danger to other students or staff members at the school.

The case remains under investigation at this time.
