(12-22-25) Van Wert Police Chief Doug Weigle, officers and the Van Wert EMS were called to the 700 block of North Washington Street on Sunday in reference to a possible overdose. Police and paramedics arrived to find a young male who was unresponsive on the floor. The unidentified man was treated by EMS and and was transported to OhioHealth Van Wert Hospital.

During the incident, police observed several drug items in plain view and obtained a search warrant for the property.

  • An unbelievable amount of THC vape pens and cartridges
  • A large amount of cash, gold, silver and copper bars; estimated worth of $40,000
  • A large amount of rifles and ammunition including a flame thrower
  • A very large amount of marijuana
  • A very large amount of hash oil or butter (Mason jars)
  • A significant amount of cocaine
  • Other pills and drugs yet to be tested

Police took into custody an estimated $40,000 worth of cash, gold, silver and copper bars, other pills and drugs yet to be tested and a large amount of rifles and ammunition, including a flame thrower.

“We encourage all parents and grandparents to take a close look at the packaging. f you see these items/wrappers at your residence, you will want to investigate further.”

Van Wert County Prosecutor Eva Yarger will be reviewing the evidence for future charges.
