 Rep. King-

“Grand Lake St. Marys is one of our region’s greatest assets, and these investments ensure it will continue to serve families, sportsmen, and visitors for generations to come. I’m thrilled to see the state prioritize the long-term health and safety of the lake, and I’m proud to deliver resources that strengthen recreation, protect our environment, and boost our local economy”

The Ohio Controlling Board approved the following funding amounts for Grand Lake St Marys State Park:

  • $653,600 to rehabilitate breakwater structures at Prairie Creek and Coldwater Creek
  • $759,000 for dam renovations

Grand Lake St Marys State Park, operated by Ohio Department of Natural Resources, was the world’s largest reservoir when it was completed in 1845. The region played an important role in opening the Northwest Territory as the St. Marys River was a vital link between the Great Lakes and the Ohio River. The 13,500-acre Grand Lake offers 52 miles of shoreline for boating and fishing, as well as a family campground, swimming pool, and a variety of day use activities to park visitors.
