(11-8-25) Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) stormed out of the Senate chamber after being pressed hard by Senator Bernie Moreno (R-OH) over his recent proposal to end the government shutdown.

Moreno repeatedly asked Schumer if his plan was “in writing” and whether millionaires would still receive COVID-era Obamacare subsidies.

Exchange:

Moreno: “Is there a proposal in writing that we can read?”
Schumer: “There is a proposal that is very simple…”
Moreno: “Would it still have no income caps, so people who make a million, two, three million dollars a year—”
Schumer: “We can fix that later. We care about working people, not billionaires. I yield the floor.”

Moments later, Schumer walked off, refusing to answer further questions.

Morenoq said:

“He acknowledged they haven’t put forward a written plan… and that millionaires would receive Biden-era COVID subsidies with no income cap.”

“He stormed out because he doesn’t want to hear any opposing views.”

“He wants zero-dollar premiums filled with fraud, and he wants that money going straight to the wealthiest insurance companies on the planet.”

The Senate remains in session over the weekend.
