“Ohioans need somebody that’s going to advocate for farmers, advocate for consumers and advocate for health care – and Jon Husted ain’t it.”

COLUMBUS, OH (10-31-25) – As Jon Husted refuses to lower health care costs and put working people first, Sherrod Brown stands with Ohioans who deserve better.

Brown said-

“Corporate special interests that raise drug prices, that raise prices at the grocery store, frankly, make people rightly think the system is rigged against them.Ohioans need somebody that’s going to advocate for farmers, advocate for consumers, and advocate for health care, and Jon Husted ain’t it.”

Sherrod: “I think that the first thing Congress should do is make sure that this Saturday, half a million Ohioans’ insurance premiums don’t go up, that some of them will see double and triple their premiums.”

Toledo Blade: Brown urges Congress to pass deal on ACA subsidies, SNAP

  • Congress should move quickly to ensure Ohioans don’t see their Affordable Care Act premiums skyrocket when open enrollment begins on Saturday, Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Sherrod Brown said during an event in Columbus on Thursday.

  • “This Saturday, 500,000 Ohioans will likely see their health insurance costs go up. Some of them will see it double and triple because Jon Husted has essentially done nothing, and in fact voted … to make certain that those costs are going to go up,” Mr. Brown told reporters following a roundtable discussion with families who could be adversely affected if Congress allows the ACA premium subsidies to expire.

  • “They could deal with this tonight by going to the Senate floor and passing legislation to do it. They’re the majority party, with the President in their party. They can fix this like that,” Mr. Brown said, snapping his fingers.

Sherrod: “People sponsor bills, they co-sponsor bills, they make speeches, but do what you need to do … Don’t be the deciding vote in cutting Medicaid. Don’t just turn your back on people that rely on the government to actually do something for them in their lives.”

Sherrod: “Quit playing politics with people’s lives.”
