(10-22-25) The U.S. Postal Service is investigating a Van Wert postal carrier for reportedly burning undelivered mail.

The Van Wert Police responded to a call at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in reference to an unattended fire in the backyard of a residence in the 900 block of George Street, where a Van Wert postal carrier resides.

The Van Wert Fire Department responded to extinguish the fire, which is now under investigation by Postmaster Greg McKeddie after an officer discovered evidence the postal carrier was allegedly burning undelivered mail.

According to Federal law-

If convicted at trial, he faces no more than 5 years in prison a $250,000 fine, and one year of supervised release after serving the sentence.
