(10-20-25) A Wawa convenience store/gas station could be built next year at 1401 State Route 703 in Celina near Grand Lake.

A commercial agent for Crawford Hoying of Dublin, Reese Moore, recently submitted a site plan review for a proposed 6,372-square-foot Wawa on 2.23 acres to the Celina Planning Commission this past August.

Mercer County Commissioners have signed off on the request.

The Wawa site drawings presented to commissioners list a total of 54 parking spaces, one space per fuel pump, plus one space for each 100 square feet of convenience retail.

Did you know…

Wawa doesn’t stand for anything as an acronym; it is named after the town in Pennsylvania where the company’s first dairy was founded in 1902. The town’s name, in turn, comes from the Native American word, “wé:wè” (Ojibwe) or “wild goose” (Lenni-Lenape). The company’s logo features a goose as a nod to its origins.
